ORRCA - Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia
ORRCA was incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit organisation managed by volunteers. ORRCA was established out of a mass stranding of cetaceans on the northern coast of NSW when it was apparent better organisation and rescue techniques were needed to enable more animals to be saved.
During ORRCA's 22 years it has trained over 400 National Parks staff and in excess of 500 ORRCA Members in rescue and rehabilitation techniques. ORRCA uses the most current and best practices in employed in our training workshops.
The Marine Mammal Human Impact Fund
A portion of the contributions from guests opting for the "CO2 Footprint Free" program is donated to ORRCA. The donation assists in managing the impact of humans on marine mammals such as the effects of climate change on whale feeding grounds in Antarctica and human encroachment in to the migration and haul-out zones of seals.
